Warm or Cool Undertones.ย

Hello beauties! One of the very first tips we learnt when I did my makeup course, was determining whether each of us had a warm or cool undertone. It’s a quick procedure, although we took the longer method of checking which each fabric colour suited us, whether it been bright shades, or much lighter ones. Below I’ve added some quick tips that will help tell you what undertone you have.

Not many people understand why this is so important? The reason being is that as a makeup artist, this gives us the ability to understand what colours will best compliment your face! โ˜บ๏ธ

1) Check out the inside of your wrists. Do your veins appear blue or green? If they look blue  youโ€™re cool-toned. If green, youโ€™re warm toned. If you have trouble telling, you probably neutral

2) Are there certain colors you find you look better in? If you look best in colours such as blues, purples, and emerald-greens, youโ€™re cool-toned. If colours such as reds, oranges, yellows, and olive-greens, youโ€™re warm toned. And if any colour suits you, you are of the luckiest of us all.. Neutral.

3) If you burn easily or turn pink, youโ€™re cool-toned. If you tan, youโ€™re warm-toned.

4) If you have blue, grey, or green eyes with blonde, brown, or black hair that has platinum tones, you are most likely cool-toned. If you have brown, or hazel eyes with strawberry blonde, auburn, or black hair that has gold tones, you are most likely warm-toned.

Below the 3 undertones.

Cool (pink, rosy or bluish undertones)
Warm (yellow, peachy, golden undertones)
Neutral (a mix of warm and cool undertones)

Foundation colours:

Cool- Neutral or Pink based.

Warm- Yellow or Peach based.

.. So what undertone do you have?

  1. I’ve got blue eyes but dark brown hair with coppery tones! I once had a make over done by a Mac artist and she reckoned I’m neutral, which is super handy as it means I can play with more colours!
